Default cold starting probs

ok I just purchased a 94 accord ex with the 2.2 liter 4 cyl . in the morning when I go to start it wont start. if I cycle the key switch a couple of times it will start and run for two seconds and then quit. I used a whole can of carb cleaner to get itt to run ...... once I get it to run and warm up it starts just fine, but aftyer sitting all night it wont start in the morning. I am at a loss here ...... please help.

could be number of things, weak fuel pump. when you say cycle the key do you mean cranking the engine, or just cycle accessories? check your plugs and see if there full of fuel or oil. how long does have to sit for this to occur?

took me about 20 min of constantly doing this to get it to stay running
once I got it running it was fine. I could shut it off and it would fire right back up

Just so I'm clear - when you say it won't start, the starter is spinning the engine over but it won't run on its own....correct.

If the starter is spinning the engine - does it seem normal or is it slower than normal.

Is the CEL on, I'd check for any stored codes.

yes, like poorman said, cycling the key just means to cycle it from off to acc. over and over, but to turn it over and actually engage the starter is starting it. like i was trying to confirm on a couple of post ago

yes poorman It will spin the engine just fine. doesn't seem to be dragging down or weak. but wont run. if I turn the key off and and back on it will run for 2 sec and then shut off, no light on dash. if I don't turn the key off and back on again and try to start it will just turn over and not run.
