Coolant Hoses
Hi folks,
Car: 1998 Honda Accord / 4-door /44 cyl /127k miles
Just took it to the dealer and paid almost $800 in brakes: this included appx $155 for front pads, smooth the rotors, and replace calipers; new rear shoes and replaced a leaking brake cylinder.
Rep said all coolant hoses should be replaced; said there's about 10 or 11 of them, most all small and hard to get to, so the labor is expensive. It would cost me about $810.
Has anyone done the removal/replacement of these hoses themselves? Just curious...no funds to do all, but would like to at least do the upper/lower hoses....tks.

complete hose kit is about $ 120 ,,,,,,,labor is around 3.5 to 4 hrs ,, you do the math ........

WOW, that's some engine...
Seems excessive to replace ALL of the hoses.
Upper radiator hose gets hottest, it's pretty easy to do yourself.
You can look for as many as you can reach in a reasonable manner & replace them. Hardest part is getting the old hose loose when it's stuck on with hardened old crust.
Of the ones you can't reach easily, check as many as you can, visually, with mirrors or whatever. Look for any that look frayed or crappy.
