Default Dash lights and Speedo

i just bought a 94 accord ex 2.2l vtec 5 spd manual and the dash lights go on and off sometimes but are mostly off and is really annoying at night time. Anyone have the same problem and how do you fix it? Thanks

Also my speedometer goes in and out, most of the time it doesn't work, therefore not adding mileage to the odometer, this is also annoying and how do you fix it? I researched a little and found it may be the vehicle speed sensor but not sure since it does work 1/4 of the time. Also my cruise control doesn't work, would this be fixed if the speedo was fixed?

Any input appreciated, thanks.

The speedometer/cruise control are likely different issues than the dash lights.

Check for engine codes. See the common diy and info thread on top of the gen tech help forum of a procedure to get codes.

Which lights are not working on your dash?

Problems could be related to a defective gauge panel. Suggest checking power supply (when panel lights are down) to the gauge panel blk/yel wire to the underdash gauge panel. Note, if power supply is intermittent, then ignition switch (electrical) is likely cause). If power supply is good, then a faulty gauge panel is likely (used replacement from ebay or car-part.com).

If cruise control works, then VSS is OK. If power is missing to the gauge panel, the speedometer would not work.

good luck
