Question Dead starter?

Without warning, I turned the key and nothing happened. No clicks, no sound at all. Battery is fully charged, electric windows working etc... Pushed the car and bump started first try. Is my starter dead? Could it be something else? Something cheaper? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried searching for the answer yet?

This is a problem that has been discussed many many times already.

Could be....got a volt meter or test light? If so have a helper try to start the car while you check for voltage on the "small wire" to the starter......If you have voltage, then I would pull the starter and have it tested.

If you do not have voltage there, let us know as there are some more tests that will need to be done.

Caveman test...
While someone holds the key in the START position, hit the starter with a broom handle or a wrench or something. If that makes it work, you need new brushes in the starter motor, or new contacts in the solenoil. Or get a new/rebuilt starter.

Are you getting voltage to it?

Yeah, when I suggested the caveman test, that was in addition to the other testing.
