Hello,

I'm trying to clean out the EGR ports on my '94 Accord LX. I've watched a couple of videos and also read the tutorial in the DIY section. However, I can't seem to detach the vacuum line on the fuel rail? The rubber hose seems stuck on both ends. To illustrate, please watch 1:40 on this video:
Any advice?

Only vacuum line to fuel rail is vacuum reference line to the fuel pressure regulator.

Video refers to vacuum line to the EGR valve.

In both cases, vacuum lines can become stuck due to heat/age. It is sometimes necessary to twist carefully w/ pliers to break the rubber/steel bond and enable removal of vacuum tube.

Thanks for the reply! Seeing how the rubber hose is probably brittle at this point, should I take any extra precautions when putting it back on? Perhaps some kind of sealant?

 

Honda vacuum lines are very good quality. I've seen 20 yr lines that were flexible and serviceable. If end is cracked/split or permanently swelled, cut the end off (perhaps 1/2" no more) and you should be fine.

Worked it off gently with a pair of pliers like you suggested and it came right off. Also seems to be in good shape and had a good seal when I put it back on as is.
