Default different distributor caps for 01

I ordered, from Amazon, a new Bosch 03306 cap and 04278 rotor for my 01 vtec accord with f23a4 engine and neither fit. After a lot of searching there seems to be two different shaped caps that supposedly fit the vehicle though they don't both fit. can anyone explain this to me? Most parts search engines don't have a place to put a vin # which I assume would pin it down. I'll go to a parts store tomorrow where I can take it out and compare but I am curious about what is going on. Thanks, Larry

You are not alone, I ordered the same cap from Amazon last year, and yes it is the wrong part. Amazon has it listed wrong. It's not compatible.

I just didn't want to buy the wrong part again, so I stopped by my Honda dealer and gave them the VIN for my car and they fixed my right up.

I spent $15 more for the cap and rotor, but I knew it was the right one.

Default 2 caps

I went to several different sites and they all seemed to have two different caps that were "exact fit". I assume they must have used two different distributors on the 98-01's

That might be true, but if you have the F23A4 ULEV motor, it would likely be like mine. I think there is Denso or Hitachi. Mine looks like the Hatachi.
The one that I bought from Amazon that was the wrong one "Beck Arnley 174-6969 Distributor Cap". The correct Honda Part for my car is 30102-PAA-A01 Cap Assembly.

That is the one. The one delivered had a straight edge in the front. Does anyone have a part # for an aftermarket cap? The Honda dealer is 50 miles away.

If I were you, I would contact one of the online Honda parts retailers, Honda parts now dot com, Honda automotive parts dot com, or call the dealer that you know of and see if they can ship you the part.
These big internet parts stores are just a bunch of robots anyway. So if I buy online parts, I check the manufacturers website against the part numbers listed on Amazon, to see if they match up. Amazon sells worldwide, so what might be for a F23A in Hawaii is different from a F23A in NY, and nobody is really checking to see of all the #s are accurate.
