distributor seal for 1996 EX 4 cyl F22B1
In chasing down the oil leaks I have now arrived at the distributor ... a bit of oil from inside the distributor cap, so the internal shaft seal needs replacing.
On-line I can find NOK part #w0133-1640599 ... the description says 1996 EX 2.2L F22B2" ...? Seems in error since the '96 EX has the F22B1.
Question -- Is this the correct part for my distributor? Does the same seal work on both distributors?
For reference, my distributor looks like this:

It has the internal ignition coil and non-rotating distributor mount. When I remove the cap I can see the shaft bearing from the outside.
Thanks. John

The distributor internal seal for the F22B1 is Kok #3286. The distributor internal seal for the F22B2 is NOK-BH3888(E).
I am not sure whether NOK W0133-1640599 is the same identical part.

Okay, I just did the distributor this morning. It does not appear to have an internal seal. The shaft is held by two metal sealed bearings, one on each end embedded in a single piece cast metal distributor base. There is no C-clip holding the cam fitting on the back end of the shaft ... there is a press-fitted metal pin but I could not budge it after some reasonable strong attempts with a hammer and punch. I imagine you could get it out with strong press, remove the shaft and replace the bearings, but everything looked to be in good shape so I didn't go any further.
The O-ring was pretty old and hard though, and simply replacing it and cleaning up the area (someone had caulked it) seems to have stopped the oil leak for now.
Fyi, the distributor fits very easily into it's mount, which tells me there is not a whole lot of pressure on that O-ring. All the more reason to watch it closely and expect to change it every few years or so at the first sign of oil seepage.
Overall the job took me a little over an hour, most of which was spent cleaning. If/when I have to do this again it would take me 15 minutes max.

Upon further inspection --
It looks like replacing the O-ring stopped about 90% of the leaking ... but there is still a small amount of oil seeping from the shaft bearings. I don't know if there is an internal rubber seal on the shaft between the bearings. As I mentioned before, the lock pin on the cam fitting seems to be in there pretty tight, so I could not remove the shaft.
Here's a picture of what it looks like

Does anyone know if these distributors are intended to be serviceable?
Thanks. John

The picture you show is of a different distributor. I think there were at least three different types of distributors used on these Accords.
It's hard to tell by the pics, but the housing on my distributor has a 2-3" long hollow tunnel cast into the housing with one sealed bearing on each exposed end of this tunnel ... no rubber seal viewable on either end ... and no top section to pull out of the housing to expose anything inside that tunnel.

If I could get the shaft out I could try to pull one or both of the bearings to see if a rubber seal is between the two, but seeing as how they are seated bearings, there should be a lip behind them to hold them in place in the housing ... which means no way to get an internal seal in or out of there.
The first thing I want to try is to remove the shaft ... possibly this distributor is servicable by replacing the bearings. But it doesn't look like the lock pin is easily removable.

This other link has a different image showing some of the screws for your F22B1 distributor.

The service manual says do not disassemble; but, on other Honda boards, there does appear to be people that have successfully replaced the seal on the distributor for the F22B1.

Yes, I have the screws in mine ... the previous image did not show any.
Fyi, here's the best picture I've found so far of my distributor, showing the enclosed cast metal housing for the shaft and the lack of C-clip for the notch:

Fyi, I looked around the internet for anyone who has worked on this type of distributor ... still can't find anything. Not only do I need to get that pin out, but I also need to find replacement bearings that don't leak, or determine that the rubber seal is actually located behind one of the bearings.

Okay, figured it out. The internal seal is replaceable but it's not easy ...
