Default EGR Valve Replacement

I would like some feed back on a decision. I need to replace the egr valve on my 2002 Honda Accord 4cyl LX.
I can buy a new cheap brand for $55 or OEM used one for $60 or Standard Brand for $141.38 or OES new for 164.95. I don’t know how critical the decision is.
If the cheap one does the same thing and gets the job done should I go with it?
Thanks for any opinions.

Before replacing the EGR valve, what EGR code are you getting?

Don't recall what the code was but had it confirmed with AutoZone who read the code.

dont know the code , but does insufficient flow ring a bell? pull it off and look at it . Mine was \is completely clogged with carbon, I am getting ready to take off the intake and clean it thoroughly as well as the egr. wouldnt do much good to buy a new egr and have it throw the same code .I can reset mine and go out on the highway for a long stretch and it wont throw the code until I hit the offramp .

Testing and cleaning would be the first place I would start. Most of the time cleaning will do the trick.....if the port in the intake is clogged it will have to be "removed" to clean it.

A great majority of the time there is just a clogged hose somewhere,
so replacing the EGR wont matter if a hose is blocked. You should go back to Autozone or Advance Auto Parts or what not
and have them tell you what code it was and put it on here so that we can better help you.

I am taking my fuel rail off and cleaning out the chamber and ports tonight. I have a rough idle and 300 miles after my motor swap the CEL finally came on. I had similar ?'s about a replacement and cost differences/trouble shooting

PAhonda, The code is P0401. I was told by a mechanic that ports of the newer egr valves can't be clean like the older ones. ????? My Honda is a 2002 LX. Maybe I should try and clean it?? But he indicated to me than mine couldn't be cleaned.

The port on your 02 can be cleaned. It is harder than the 94-97 setup, because you have to remove the upper part of the intake manifold. The port is on the driver's side of the manifold going from the EGR valve to towards the throttle body.
