so I just had the Denso alternator and battery tested and it came back perfect. but my dash lights are flickering some, especially while idling. its tends to stop when the car is moving.

any idea why this is happening? I just ordered another dimmer switch. but what else might be causing this issue?

 

Which lights are flickering and which are not flickering? The gauge lights, the radio/hvac, dome light, headlight? It could help narrown down potential causes.

 

let me take a closer look after the sun goes down so I can provide more accurate info.

 

so everything is pulsing, the cluster, interior lights, tail lights. the car has LEDs so they are on ballasts.

I am wondering, I had a Carquest Alternator from Auto Zone and had no issues, wanted to upgrade so got the Denso. its the Denso just too much for the car even though it was tested working properly?

I did have the cluster go out a few times while driving and turned/moved the dimmer switch and it came back on. but this issue only happened a few times. but notice the dimmer effecting the cluster lights some. I have another dimmer switch incoming.

 

I ordered a new Denso Alternator from Rock Auto as it was under warranty so they will refund the old one or the new one if needed. previous to the Denso I had a Carquest from the auto part store.

 

It could definitely be the alternator, but the battery or possibly poor connections with the battery cables could also cause this. Most parts stores will do an alternator/battery/starter test as a free service.

I wouldn't think the Denso is over/under powered for your accord as the voltage regulator should handle the volts/amps. You can put a volt meter on the battery posts to see what kind of voltage your alternator is producting while the car is running.

I'd probably disconnect the battery and clean all ends of both battery cables with a wire brush or sand paper to ensure you have good electrical connections when you swap out the alternator.

 

my mechanic tested the Alt and battery today and it check out working. what do you mean Denso is over/under powered? do you mean If I replace, do not use Denso go with regular rebuild? I will look at the Battery Cables tomorrow.

I just meant the Denso alternator isn't too much power for your accord, and it isn't too little power for your accord if working properly.

 

ok, so the alt and battery tested perfect he said. I will check the battery connections and sand them up tomorrow. I think I have a metal brush as well.

 

so let me ask you, I keep hearing how these rebuilt Alts are so hit and miss. would it be a mistake to install the new Denso rebuild even though the one of the car tests working? what are the other culprits to the lights pulsing? alternator belt?
