This question is gonna make me look REALLY stupid but i've just now REALLY started getting into this field. Does my engine look too dirty? Llike, should i regularly clean it to prevent anything and if so how? Also if you see anything wrong with it visually please tell me! lol

 

I would say it is actually cleaner than most cars of its age.

I wouldn't say keeping it clean would prevent too many things, its more of just for looks.

I notice you have a 2001 V6, you will want to keep an eye on the transmission, they are extremely prone to failure.

Well keep an eye on the new one, even the rebuilds don't last any better than the originals.

Lots of people wash out their engine compartment, for looks. Simple-Green or something like that, & maybe a ratty old washcloth. Beware of a few things.
The following things have little air vents, so don't get water inside:
- battery caps
- power steering reservoir
- brake fluid reservoir
- automatic trans
- antifreeze overflow reservoir
Cover up or shield the alternator. Or at least allow it to dry out good before running it.

 

Clean and the protect the battery cables, looks like they could use a little attention. Check the PS fluid, only use Honda/Acura approved if it is low-hard to tell in the pic.

 

I have always just sprayed my Accord engines (92 and 03) off at the car wash, and I mean everything under the hood (alternator etc). I would wash the outside first, to let the engine cool a little, then spray the engine compartment down good. Everything electrical has very good seals and electrical grease to keep water out. Never had a problem. I would take all those plastic covers off, and take a trip to the nearest car wash. I am not going to try it with my Chevy truck because some of the wiring looks vulnerable, and I don't want to be stranded at the car wash.

 

Does the PS look dark or is that normal?

 

New fluid looks amber/clear-ish like engine oil. But it always gets dark in use.
