Default Engine and shift cable on 94 ex accord

I have a 1994 Accord EX and I am replacing the motor in it. I was wondering if the ex and dx differ. When I called around a couple places they said they did but I was wondering what the difference was.

Also I was taking the motor out of my Accord and I screwed up the shifter cable on it. I looked on the manual and it says about removing the exhaust pipe and heat shield. I was wondering if all that had to be done or if I could just crawl under there and take a clamp off or something. Thanks guys.

EX and DX are different motors. Both are the 2.2L I4, but the EX is a V-tec SOHC, and DX is just a SOHC. As for the shifter cable I am not certain but you may very well have to lower the exhaust a bit to get to it.... what did you screw up on it?
