engine start-up lags in cold weather.
Hey Guys,
I recently bought my 93 Accord EX from Florida. Bringing it up north to a colder climate, I've noticed that the engine lags during cold weather start-ups.
It has NEVER failed to start..it just lags a little. Immediately after it starts, the engine will cut off unless I continue to give it some gas.
When it does cut off, I turn the starter again and it starts up immediately without any further problems.
Again, this only happens when the car has been sitting out in cold weather for hours and hours.
Can someone tell me what may be the problem? It's a real nuisance.
Thanks.

Are you sure it's normal? My other cars (94 toyota celica, 88 acura integra) have never had this problem.
If it is indeed normal, what should I consider replacing to give it some "performance" upgrades so it starts better in cold weather?

try the tune up, fuel filter and change the oil too, some 5w-30 will help the engine spin up faster esp in cold weather. also check the battery and alternator make sure you are getting enough initial juice.
Also:
Try turning the ignition key to only the on position, for five/six seconds, before trying to start the vehicle. An older fuel pump may not be quite as quick to supply adequate pressure to the injection system and this will provide a little extra time for the fuel injection system to adjust the cold weather air/fuel ratio.
