I hope I dont get flamed here,I'v read thru the archives and cant find a definite answer,but I need to ask this question before I do something dumb. I'm very new to accords...I bought a damaged '87, carburated, 4door, 5 speedaccord LX from a girl I know. Only thing good is the5 speed transand engine. I am on my way to Portland tomorrow to buy a '89, carburated, 4door, Automatic Trans accord DX, Blown Headgasket. My question is, Will I be able to simply swap the good motor from the "87 To the "89?Just the Motor,not the trans.Any advice or info Greatly appreciated.

 

I'm pretty sure the motor in my '87 is a 2.0.. I'm pretty sure the motor in the "89is also a 2.0. I guess what I really need to know is there any diffrences between the two motors, beings ones mated to a manual trans and the other is mated to a standard trans?

 

As long as the motors are the same I don't see why there'd be a problem.

 

i'm not sure, but the best way to be 100% sure would be to look at the engine codes. if they are the same then you are good to go! if you can post both vin numbers i can look up the engine codes and tell you if they are the same.

i'm not matching vin characters. i'm looking what engine originally came with that vin number

yours has this engine in it:

when you get her vin number we can check her engine and see if it's possible.
