Default engine/trans removal method

Hello,
I have 2 1993 Accords. One has a bad tranny and smoked engine. The other is pristine other than being rear ended . I want to put the "good" engine and trans from the crashed car into the non crashed car. I have been told by a few that I can pull the entire front end together, including axles, struts, wheels and all along with the engine and trans. Is this possible, and if so is it the best method for the swap, as opposed to just the engine and trans alone? I have plenty experience with rear drive engine removals etc., but this will be my first front driver. I have the tools ,space, and equipment, just lookin for some advice before jumping in. Thanks in advance.

I don't think if there is enough room to pull the engine/transmission/axles/knuckles through the top of the engine bay.

If you can find a way to securely support the engine and transmission among the other things from the bottom and can lift the car over the engine, then it is possible.

It may be quicker just to remove the axles and use a cherry picker to pull the engine/transmission together. Not sure what equipment you have. I would remove the radiator, so you don't crush it when trying to pull/drop the engine.

Are the two cars the same model, like LXs, etc?

yes very good question PAhonda...what are the modes of the cb7s?? B/c some models came with diff engines. The f22a6 engine you MUST swap over the ECU or it won’t run right b/c is has a more aggressive cam shaft....you also need to swap over the intake and exhaust manifolds if the engines codes are not the same. F22a1 intake and exhaust manifolds will restrict a f22a4 or f22a6 engine and lose power along with other prob.s b/c the factory "tune" is diff.

well you are in luck my friend
both LX and DX use the same engine so everything will swap over without a prob. no need to swap intake or exhaust manifold or the ECU. Both LX and DX have a f22a1 engine. So swap drive

best way is to pull engine and tranny together, leave the rest behind ,,remove the hood, axles, radiator ( gives you a bit more room and no chance to damage it ) you can unbolt the a/c compressor and leave it hang ,( thus no need to evac and recharge a/c system) or if you want to evac and recharge a/c system, remove the lines , that also will give you more room
