Default Erratic idle

I have a 98 EX, manual. I was having issues with power and deducted that it was the throttle position sensor. I decided to buy a used throttle body off ebay (40bux) and it came with all the sensors. I literally just dropped it in.

It seems everything is much more crisp except for one problem. My idle is bouncy as hell. Before i was idling at a smooth 800 rpm. Now it jumps between 1k and 2.1k constantly. I went for a drive and noticed that i'm actually slightly accelerating in gear if i drop below 1500 rpm.

What do i need to do??

Its also important to note i didn't use a throttle body gasket. I forgot to get one and decided to RTV silicone that hoe.

Be sure the coolant is bleed properly. Then search for vac leaks, many methods to do this....if you need some of those let us know.

Look in the DIY Answers section for a post by me about setting the base idle.

And... is it possible that the RTV has oozzed into the little air passageway & blocked it off?

Did you use "sensor-safe" RTV? Normal silicone releases silanes during curing, which is sudden-death for O2 sensors.

Figured it out. the rtv was providing a ****ty seal, and i didn't exactly scrape all the old gasket off... man i was lazy. SPent 2 dollars on the gasket and fixed the problem.
