EX or LX
So i have a 97 facelift honda accord and have been reading around and trying to find out if its a LX or EX. I have found many mixed answers so i have decided to post on here and ask if anyone knows. It has honda alloy wheels (Not those plastic ugly things), Leather seats, 6 stack cd player, Vtec, vti-s, Wooden interior, 4 speed automatic, Cruise control, electric windows and mirrors and many more that i cannot name off the top of my head.
Thanks

The EX is the only model that has a Vtec engine, so you car has an EX engine.
You can also determine if the car is a EX/LX/DX by the VIN on the metal plate on top of the driver's side of the dash board. The eighth digit is the one that will determine the Vehicle Grade (lx, dx, etc).
1HGCD566*SC000001
1HG = Honda of Americal
CD5 = Accord Sedan
6 = 4door automatic
6 = EX (2=DX, 3=LX, 4=LX with ABS, 5=EX, 6=EX with leather seats)

I own an EX myself but still dont know, which is the "top" model's suffix?

EX is the top model. On newer accords EX-L is the top motor with leather interior.

This is what i mean. I dont have a sunroof/moon roof thingy but i have a vtec engine. people say accords with over head roofs are EX while others say its other reasons ie. the engine.
Still no real answer lol.

Still haven't read the 8th digit of your VIN, huh?
Certain years the VTEC engine was only on the EX. Other years, they put the VTEC engine on other models. There's a lot of people who take facts like that & try to apply them across all different years of cars.
Wheels are easy to change. Rear brakes (drum vs. disk) are kinda easy. It's more difficult to change the engine. It's REAL difficult to change the roof.
So... what's the 8th digit of your VIN? Honda doesn't even keep the same scheme for that. Someone with a 2009 Accord would have a different list of things to decode his VIN.
So you can go to www dot ahm-ownerlink dot com & enter your car's complete VIN. Then it will tell you everything about your car. IF you're in USA (which you never said). Outside of USA the whole game is different.

If you don't have a moon-roof, it's not an EX. Could be SE, LX, or anything else though.

Panny hasn't said whether this is a USA car??
certain years you have a situation like this:
Canada EX-R = same as USA EX = moonroof
Canada EX = same as USA LX = no moonroof
Other countries = all kinds of different things that I don't know about
So... still no real information from Panny. I've never heard of a "facelift" Accord which is mentioned in the first post. "Vti-s"?? Makes me wonder if this is a UK car?

Ok i finally got my car back from the garage and have now checked the VIN number. It is 7A3CD5670VNMM0019.
Another thing i found under the steering wheel was 38600-sv4-a02 JAPAN 142649V4A0. I live in New Zealand which is like a long way away from where ever anyone else lives except australia. I also found this on wikipedia :
In New Zealand, the 5th generation Accord was assembled at Honda's manufacturing site in Nelson and was released in March, 1994. It was available in LXi, EXi and EXi-S trim levels. A facelift was released in December 1995, which coincided with the release of VTEC engines in the upper-spec models. Trim levels were LXi, VTi, and VTi-S.
Apparently VTi-S is the upper spec with leather seats etc.
Will up load pictures once i find the cord to my camera lol.
