Default Exedy HCK1000 clutch kit Vs. OEM Kit

I'm going to be needing a clutch in the not too distant future. I talked with a local mechanic and he told me that the Exedy HCK1000 kit is identical to the Honda kit. Anyone have any experience with this clutch? The price is 1/2 of what the Honda part is.

Posting the year and model accord in your signature will help get more responses.

Exedy is an OEM supplier for my TSX, so they are a supplier for Honda.

It's a 2000EX 4 cylinder, 5mt Accord. I'm just wondering if I should buy the OEM part or if the mechanic is correct on the part being the same.

Ask your mechanic if they have and account with Worldpac. The carry high quality OE and OEM components.

I checked Worldpac, they carry the Exedy HCK1000 as the replacement clutch for the 2000 Honda Accord. I purchased the kit through Rockauto for $96.00 delivered to the door.

If you go to their website, they provide you with the vendor's that provide their parts. For clutches, Exedy is their supplier. Exedy provides a 12 Month, 12K miles warranty.

^Thanks Poorman for the feedback. I was somewhat concerned to purchase the Exedy, but when I searched more online, I found that Exedy was indeed the OEM part manufacturer. Now that I have another source to confirm, I feel much better about my purchase.
