Default fouled plugs / bad idle

88 accord 5 spd carb.
two questions-
1- my accord has a habit of fouling out a set of plugs after about 2 weeks of driving to work, my drive is not enough to really warm it up. i have been using ngk's standard plug for this car. the other symptom is that the idle "creeps" up sometimes as it warms up.the idle will "kick down " most of the time (sticky).i am rather intimidated by the carb on this ( i do vw solex and old holley). this is a budget buggie so i don't have much cash for hands-on / shop diagnosis so any help would be great. if i missed any info needed, please ask.
2-88 accord w/auto and carb
this car acts a little diff but i have a hunch it stems from the same area. first off- she has an idle problem in that it "creeps" up to 2800 rpm until it gets fully warmed up. if i turn it off and let it set for a few min. it takes up where it left off (racing)this plays havoc on the auto trans operation (clunk).this idle problem is very consistant. it also has a shift quirk.it acts as tho the rpm at shift has to get to high between 2-3 and sometimes 1-2. this car has had light use but not great maintenance. the idle does not "kick down" on this car.
on both cars i have checked for vac line problems(replaced alot) checked for binding linkage ect.
anyone had any luck with say a weber progressive 2bbl?

thanks, ken-recovering vw addict

if your drives are always very short and not enough to warm it up maybe look into hotter plugs?

those older honda carbs had a vacum choke pull off on the top left of the carb as viewed from the front; The choke plate should pull open when the two vacum lines are pinched shut; if the pull off diaphram is leaking it will allow the choke plate to creep back to the 'on' position.
