Default Friend jumpstarted car bad... DX

Okay, so I got my new ecu and went to go jump my car, he put the cables on my battery correctly but reverse on his... It sparked and now nothing will turn on... what is the worst possible thing it could be? or do you think it could just be the fuses in the main fuse box?

Check all fuses in fuse box, including main bus fuses. Get a good battery, install, and reset ECU,... and hope. This may have damaged the alternator also.

good luck

Moving to General Tech where it belongs...

If you're real lucky, the fuses blew before the alternator or ECU was damaged.

There is a big fuse in the fuse box that typically has two screws holding it in. I would check that fuse first.

If battery or BackUp fuse is disconnected for 20 secs the ECU will reset. Hopefully only one of primary fuses is open.

good luck

We all understand the emotions.

Let's take this one step at a time.

1. The jump that went bad. Have you checked the main underhood fuses, these should be the ones with a clear top. Are they good.

2. I just noticed that you got a new ECU before the jump, at least that is how I read this? What issues were there before to make you get a new ECU?

Like other said, check the main fuse first, it probably is blown. Here is a diagram showing the location in the under hood fuse/relay box. It should be held on with two Phillips screws. Replace it with one with the same amperage (e.g., if it is 80A, replace only with 80A).

Since it sounds like your car had no power for a while, once you replaced the main fuse and use a battery with a good charge, the ECU would already be reset.
