the door/window construction is pretty simple - the motor that is fixed on a regulator that holds the window.

my best guess would be that the regulator is damaged or jammed in some way. But you have to open it and see to be sure.

the regulator is prob. bad. just take the panel off and peel the plastic back and check it out. should be to hard.

99 Accord Front Window - Similar Problem
My front power window suddenly developed a problem today. As I was trying to open the window it went down slower than usual and there is some sort of grinding noise and when I tried to get it back up again it would not go all the way up. I took the door panel off and I was able to physically move/pivot the window left and right by a few degrees and help it to get back up. So there seems to be some resistance somewhere - how do I know if it is the motor or if it is the regulator assembly that is bad? Can you see anything visually if the regulator gone bad?
Thanks

you need window regulators,, there is a little white plastic piece that brakes and cable cannot close windows all the way they stay about 1/4 to 1 inch from the top ....i cannot remember exactly on 96 ..but i believe that window regulator comes with the motor on that particular year and model
