fuel filter
 

Hello!!

I was looking around the site for possible pics and directions on how to change out a fuel filter on a 96 accord lx with no success.

Does anyone know where I can find this information?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!:)

It located in the DIY section. There are more DIY threads there, you just have to change it to show from the "beginning" to see them all (see attached picture). Sometimes when searching, trying different words.

Posters are always wanting to change the fuel filter, possibly because it was much easier on earlier Accords. On this vintage it is a real challenge to access and replace.

Honda does not specify a replacement interval. If fuel pressure is OK (starts good and runs OK), I would recommend leaving alone. If you're having problems a fuel pressure check can save a difficult job w/ potential to cause added problems (damage to tubing connections).

the fuel filter has only been changed once, since the car rolled off the assembly line in 1996. The manual states every 30,000 mi or 24 months. The reason I considered changing it is because of how much I travel and the conditions I travel in. But if it is one of those things where I dont need to follow the manual, trust me, I dont have any problem backing away from this project...lol..

Sorry my mistake, you are correct about the 30K change interval. However the advice still holds. There is a primary screen on the fuel pump inlet which prevents most debris from getting to the filter.

When I removed my fuel tank for fuel pump replacement, the screen was clean and so was the tank. I concluded that debris is unlikely. This is backed up by no cases of fuel filter blockage. It must happen, but I don't remember ever seeing one posted.

Ive never changed mine, I have a 96 accord with 190k in the rust belt

Im inclined to leave fuel systems alone unless they look they are going to imminently fail. I just hate messing with the fuel, no matter what I do it never goes to plan.
