Default Gas tank hook?

I have the loop for a hook on the back of my gas tank and was wondering if it would be ok to shave it off. I have an undercar lighting kit to put on and the loop thing is in the way. Thanks for the help.

Loop on the gas tank??

Are you talking about the tow loop on the outside of the spare-tire well?

so is that ok to remove? obviously then i'll have no place to be towed from but i don't plan on needing pulled out of a ditch.

I'm afraid that it might i guess weaken the strength of the framing of the spare tire well. Sorry for the posts, i keep forgetting to say things.

I know that that hook is the jacking point for lifting the back of the car. I don't know if it will do anything structurally to remove it.

Was this lighting kit specific for your car? If it was, find out what other people did.

No it was not. It's just a Street Glow Undercar Kit. I had no idea it was a jacking point considering the jack only shows the points being next to the tires. Hmmm.....well this is an issue. It has to be removed or else i can't mount the lights. There's just no other place. I guess I'll just be removing it after all. Thanks for all you help guys. I'll be sure to post pics when the kit is installed.

The Accords & Integra that I've owned, that place is the rear-center jacking point. You lift with a floor jack then put jack-stands under the 2 rear-side places.

I don't think it will hurt anything structurallly - from the standpoint of crash strength. But if you need to lift both back wheels it'll be a pain without that jack point.

I have the same thing under my Accord and can't understand how just that is in your way. You need THAT EXACT spot for something? Personally I wouldn't cut it but that's just me. Not structually I just wouldn't cut it that's all, but like I said that's me.
