Do your brake lights work when you push the brake pedal?

The brake lamp switch is mounted at the hinge of the brake pedal. But this seems to be working OK because your brake lights are working.

The shift interlock solenoid is located with the shift lever. It's job is to lock the shift lever into PARK and release it when you press on the brake pedal. Remove the trim bezels & whatever covers around the shift lever to see whether something is blocking the action of the lever or the interlock.

Actually, look at the brake lamp switch anyway. It might be 2 switches in one...?

One switch triggers when you first press the brake pedal, turning on the brake lights. The second switch triggers after you press the brake pedal farther down. Look for anything blocking the correct action of that switch.

Just me but I have seen/heard of some of the 16's having and issue with the shifter bending a lever making it hard to get into or out of P. Mainly this has been on the 16`17 Pilots with the six speed....the 9 speeds have a push button shifter.
