Default Is this a good deal?

1999 Accord EX Coupe
4cyl ULEV
Clean Title history
2 owners
92318 miles

HE is asking $6000. It is from a dealer, but the price seems low like something is wrong. It is listed on EBAY HERE

What do you think? I will take it to get it inspected and it needs a timing belt.

Welcome...btw, you only need to post your questions once...repeated entries are pointless and tend to p*ss off the powers that be, and rightfully so.

The price seems low. Did you run your own numbers on it? What does Edmunds say?

Thanks for the info.

What is your personal opinion? If you click on the link, the vehicle looks good and he says it runs good. I am in the Marines and money is limited so I do not want to get screwed.

The price will probably go upnear the end of the bidding.

Agreed. Have you seen this vehicle in person? I would always be wary of a sight unseen vehicular purchase.

How do you know it needs a timing belt?Did I miss this in the listing?
Can you get previousownership information, besides carfax (which is notoriously unreliable)?
WIll your inspection take place pre- orpost-purchase?
If it fails your inspection, can you back out, or are you SOL?

These are just a few of the quetions that pop into my mind, though I have not very familiar with Ebay motors, and some of these may be answered by their policies.

And btw, thanks for your sevice to the country. [sm=americanasmiley.gif]

1. The guy told me I could have it for 6k
2. I am going to see it tomorrow and have it inspected prepurchase
3. If I do not like it I am ok. I will look at it before the auction ends
4. I talked to the guy and he has not replaced the belt. He has no records and he has owned the vehicle since 03 and the last odometer reading was in 04 at 68K, not sure what that means.

What does edmunds value it at for private party? Ask why the price is so low, if indeed it is...If the inspection goes well, and your bullsh*t alarm doesnt go off meeting with him, then its probably worth it.

well seeing that its ebay everything starts out dirt cheap and its bid on from there. sounds like a steal to me if all you have to do is replace the timing belt for $6k

if a shop does a timing belt ,, it will cost you around 600-650 dollars add that to the total

And definately DO NOT buy a used car till after you have it inspected by a auto shop ,,
Go to a shop that specializes on Hondas or the Dealer and ask for a buyer's inspection should not cost more than 60-70 dollars , but it will be the best money ever spent when buying a used car ,,could save you thousands ..
