I have a 1988 honda accord DX hatchback(2dr) . I will dig up the engine (4 cyl) and transmission( manual) info tomorrow for a question i will need to ask soon. ( looking to do a transmission swap from a 1987 honda accord DX hatchback (2dr) and replace the one in my 1988 accord) {looking to do the legwork tomorrow}
My most immediate problem is this.
I will start the car (no big deal) for the most part there is no real problem for a few minutes as I'm driving but a after driving a little bit if I have to disengage the clutch and come to a stop the car will just stop. This happens in either neutral or the clutch disengaged. While I'm moving I am perfectly fine. There are points in time (usually when it was just started) where it will work like it is supposed to, however after a bit the idle will drop here and there and then without much more warning the next time I disengage the clutch the engine dies
unless i maintain slight pressure on the gas pedal.
I hope this was enough information for an accurate response if not ask away and I will attempt to answer to the best of my ability.

Welcome!
This is a "welcome & introduction" section, but the actual technical questions belong in the General Tech. section. I'll move it over there.
Carburator, right? How old are your general tune-up things like plugs, wires, distributor cap etc.?
How long since you cleaned up the carburator? Carb-cleaner spray? Tune-up & adjust idle mixture & idle RPM? Check float level?

Yes those transmissions will interchange.
Check around for vacum leaks; from your description the engine is running okay while the choke is on.
Hot air door diaphram on the breather snorkle, vacuum advance diaphram on the distributor. and there is a way to check the choke pull off diaphram on the top front left of the carb body.
Another problem that is starting to crop up in these older carbed Accords, the pivot point of the throttle plate [lower] are getting worn and allowing the throttle plate to hang open slightly.

wow I wasn't going to seriously ask about the transmissions until I figured out this other problem. Thanks! I appreciate the research you did in order to find that out.
I have replaced the spark plugs and wires, however I will need to dig into my carburetor this weekend and hopefully that will solve it. *crosses fingers*
Thanks for the replies
