Half shaft removal

I am new here today and need to know if removing the passenger side half shaft on a 2000 Honda Accord is something I can do myself or if it is a dealer only repair requiring special tools.
Manul 5 speed 4 cylinder with ABS.
It is my son's car and he is askign if I can do it for him to save him $
I have average mechanical ability having restored Corvettes but not Hondas.
Thank you for any input so we can make a somewhat intelligent decision on whether we should tackle this job or not as a fther / son project this weekend.

You'll need a big (36mm?) socket for the axle bolt. A small gear-puller for the ball joints (pickle-fork usually tears up the rubber boots).
The inboard end of the axle pops out of the tranny by prying with a crowbar or big screwdriver.

JimBlake,
Thanks for the reply.
When you say the shaft "pops" out of the inboard end, is it because it is a press fit or becasue there are snap rings or other fasteners that holding it in place and the prybar "pops" them off.
I don't want to dmage anything in th eprocess.
On American cars and some German cars, things of this nature have hidden snap rings that must be removed before removal of the part being held in, that's why i ask.
Thank you,
Kurt
