Default Hands Free Control Has Stopped Working

The car's HFT system stopped working today. i.e when you press the phone button or cancel you would normally get a Bleep and it would take you into or out of the phone menu. Neither of which is happening.

The phone is no longer connecting to the HFT system.

I am crossing fingers this is just a fuse issue but looking in the manual I can't see a reference to HFT in the fuse box. Does anyone know if it does have a fuse and if so what number it is located on?

Has anyone had experience of HFT issues on the accord - things to try?

Many thanks

Welcome (I see you're new here)

Sounds like you're in UK?? That's a whole different car, but we DO have a handful of guys who post from UK. Hopefully someone chimes in. Those details are quite likely different between USA cars & UK/Euro cars.

Got the same problem here. just purchased accord tourer Gt Nav. When I select the HFT button I don't get a bleep. Frustrating as I am currentlly working away.

Thank you for the welcome, yes based in the UK.

Over the weekend unless someone does know the answer I will go through all of the fuses to hopefully find a blown one. If I do or don't strike jackpot I will post here

I went through the fuses (used a torchlight seemed to be easiest way of checking without removing the fuses) and can't see any that have blown. Also checked under the bonet and the 2 mini fuses boxes all clear. So either it's a self contained system or something else. Real shame as its one of those features that is not critical but it makes the whole experience more enjoyable.

Unless anyone has any other ideas (any way of resetting it?) i'll highlight it at the next service

Is that bluetooth wireless? Go through the motions of pairing your phone as if you're doing that for the first time.

Also before giving up, actually pull the fuses & check continuity with a multi-meter. I've occasionally seen fuses that LOOK OK but they don't conduct.

Yep blue toothwireless, the pairing can't be done because the controls don't work. I suspect when the car is switched on it enables wireless and if this doesn't kick in then the controls don't get enabled. Weirdly it has since worked a couple of times - which indicates my theory re switching on is correct. Just cant guarantee every journey it will work with.

I can go through the fuses but it is strange non are labelled with the HFT.

Wow, Bluetooth in an '06 Accord? Must be unique to the British model? I have an '06 EXL/Navi with voice activation, but didnt see anything about the bluetooth feature with mine.... Is it for the Euro models only or can you purchase this as an option on a U.S. model?

I'm not sure, I think the Blue Tooth HFT came with the model before the current one. The car is June 06 which I had thought was the previous model (the one before that without HFT/New Styling etc) but luckily wasn't - because I purchased it unseen from a Honda dealership. Something not to be repeated but luckily everything agreed proved to be correct including the fact it was at the time the current model

** Not that it matters because my gut feel is that this is going to be an expensive repair which will mean having a visor bluetooth instead Cross fingers when it comes to the service and i'll post in here once I know (sometime January/February)

Try this site:

www.hondahandsfree.com
Enter your car and phones information. There should be a set of instructions on how to pair the phone with your car. Sounds like you have done this already.

The other information I found out there for an Acura TL is turn the key to the acc (I) position, and hold the back button for more than 5 seconds. It should tell you that the HFL is ok or needs serviced.

Somewhere else I found that if you hold the call start and the end buttons for 10 seconds with the key in the acc (I) position, it will go into diagnostics mode and unfreeze it?

It may not work, but it is worth a shot.
