hearing rattling under car over bumps
When the car is cool (not just driven) reach under check for any loose items. Suspension components and tires you should be able to grab hard and try to shake and detect zero play. Things like exhaust you should apply a gentler touch.
#2 the sway bar bushings, check to see if a flashlight can be seen thru them where they go around the sway bar.
Also check the sway bar end links, thereshould be4 rubber bushings

I'm having this same issue and many sources have suggested checking the sway bar bushings. What is a reasonable price to have them replaced and is this a job that my friendly neighborhood mechanic can do or do you recommend going to a dealerwith Honda parts?
it's a pretty simple job that anyone can do, I can't imagine them charging more than an hours labor and the bushings themselves probably aren't more than $10 each. If you can't get it done for under $100.00 parts and labor I'd be stunned.

If I'm pretty handy but not a mechanic per se, can I do it? Are the sway bars under tention or anything? It's not like dealing with shocks/struts, right? I change my own oil...I'm not afraid to get under the car.
pretty simple and straight forward, a few bolts off a few bolts on... If you change your oil you should be able to do it, with the car on a level surface it should be fine.
