Hi, and advice on purchasing '94 Accord wanted
Hi,
I've joined the forums as a current honda prelude driver, and prospective honda accord owner
I'm after a car that I can fix up a bit and mod a little, hopefully gaining a bit more mechanical knowledge in the process. The prelude I currently drive is my dads and while possession is 9/10's of the law I'd like something that was mine.
I'm currently looking at this car: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=262940394
After going and taking a look at the car, it would appear that the engine is well maintained (receipts dating back to first owner of oil and timing belt changes, etc - spent its whole life as a company car).
The main issues are faulty abs (is there a way to read the abs units error code without specialist equipment? it'd be handy to know whether it was a faulty sensor or the actual unit which is pricey at $445 NZD/ $330 USD from a wrecker), and slight squealing in the power steering which the owner suspects is a belt, and my local wrecker has told me is probably the pump.
Also I haven't been able to find any information about the engine online, its a F22Z1. Has anyone heard of it/got any information about its performance and reliability, especially considering the high kms on it: 354,000km/220,000 miles.
So basically I'd like to know your thoughts about it, and whether or not it'd make a good project car for a student on limited income.

The car looks like a 90-93 US accord. There should be a service connector either under the passenger glove box or behind the passenger kick panel. Short the service connector with a thin paper clip or wire and count the ABS flashes.
See this for an example on the US 94-95 accord. The only difference is that you will count the abs light.

Thanks for the link for the ABS diagnosing
Yeah from wikipedia pictures I'm starting to think its a '93, especially from the headlights. According to the rego data, it was first registered 1993, December 16th and country of origin is Japan. The model is listed as ACCORD EXI 2.2 MAN.
