Honda accord 2005 Lx

Today I started my accord and it would not go above 500rpm. I left going for a feel minutes, when I went to put in drive it turned off any ideas why? Could it be the EGR valve?

Any recent work?

History of the tune up items?

Was/is the CEL/MIL light on?
