Default How to check for leaks in exhaust manifolds?

So I have a converter problem, and Mr. PAHonda suggested checking the exhaust manifold. I don't have any cool equipment such as a smoke machine... so I would like to ask for your help

Please take a second to listen to the sound of my car's engine in this youtube video, and see if you can tell there's an exhaust leak... During the video, I rev'ed it up to 2K RPM and then 3K RPM. Thanks a million.

Cat maybe an issue but if the speakers on my laptop are good enough for this....adjust the valve lash.

PS- My wife says this sounds like a kids remote control car...sorry had to add that as I woke her up listening to this.....sorry to both of you...please don't take that the wrong way

ADD: which makes me think, we are all in trouble now......if the valves are not closing off/or closing too early....hummmmm, could this lead to a code and or failure of the cat?

Thanks! Just curious, what is out of the ordinary about the sound you heard? (and sorry about your wife being awakened by the video :P)

Ahh, I told her, she is normally out by 7:30~8:00 so she should have been in bed....anyway.

First, sounds over the net are hard...even video's or descriptions...phones or whatever will pick up on noises that the ear or what is left of the brain do not.

To me, again me listening to the video and on my "mono tone" speaker....I pick up on the "click/clack" going on which sounds more like valve lash issues than an exahust leak....there maybe an exhaust leak but I picked up on the valves or what sounded like valves....could be me and my speakers....so take it FWIW.

wow,, that's bad enough to wake up a sleeping dog .. :-) just kidding ...it does not sounds like a leaky manifold ,,,,,,sounds more like noisy valves and or noisy belt tensioner ,, remove the belt and retry it ,,
