I had the same issue and was able to fix it with a new ignitor/ICM. I determined that it was the distributor/spark that was the cold temperature culprit by placing a heating pad around the distributor on a cold morning and was able to start the car no problem after it had warmed a little.

Iowan..
Great post and thread .. I have the is exact same issue going. I live in Mesa AZ.. and the temps are 40's for the Low and 80's for the high. Car will not start in the morning and do exactly what you said in your first post. I too just replaced the seal around the Dist. due to a nasty oil leak.

So did you replace the ICM or clean it out and re-seat the wire connections? If you did replace what did it cost?

I did not have an oil leak, so I can't speak to wether or not it can be cleaned and reused. When I did replace mine, it was in the neighborhood of $60 for a new aftermarket ( think it was Beck/Arnley ) part. The dealer part was close to $200!! ouch. I probably ordered through mail order.. maybe rock auto. Sounds like you are pretty close to the temp range where the problem went away. If it was April, you could probably get away with waiting until the end of the year.

I did remove the ICM and heat it as well but it didn't help. I replaced it with a new one from Autozone which is where I tested it at for 92 dollars I believe.
