I replaced mine not too long ago. Its pretty simple.

I would suggest that you get a 10mm line wrench, so you don't strip the flared nuts going into the master cylinder.

Also, be careful when loosening the bleeders, because those threads can get rusty due to water, salt (for us northerners). I would soak them with PB blaster to help loosen them up.

Good luck.

My wife is going to flip. She is so sick of spending money on her car! I know she is going to S*** a brick when I tell her we need to spend another $100 on it.
have her get a new car with a $400 monthly payment. I'll be your repair bills are less than that

RE: I guess I need to replace my brake master cylinder

So I replaced it this weekend. Thanks to deserthonda for his post on the bench bleeding process and how to bleed the brakes. This is the first time either myself or my dad have bled brakes. Somehow he was able to replace a master cylinder on another car a long time ago and never even had to bleed the brakes. Anywho...we did bench bleed the master as we were supposed to, however I think there was too long of a period of time fromwhen we unhooked the old master and put the new one in. I'm sure that is where we got air in the lines.Istupidly did not remove the vaccuum hose from the brake booster to ease in installation of the master. This madeone of the two mounting nutsnearly impossible to get to. When trying to reainstall the new master, I DROPPED one of the nuts. We were able to see it, but not get to it (and of course, we could not find a grabber tool anywhere.) This was about 10:30 onSaturday night. So wehooked up one of the nuts and installed the brake lines and let it sit overnight until we could go to AutoZone and find either a replacement nut or a grabber tool. We bought both onSunday at AZ.We were unable to locate the dropped nut to grab with the grabber tool (either myself or my dad must have moved it out of sight when attempting to pick it up with a long piece of wire) so we installedthe new nut. Then of course, we got everything backtogether (no leaks)and the brakes were spongy. We bled the brakes, and all is now well:D.
