Idling When Cold

Idling When Cold
Ok I dunno if this is normal or not but in the mornings somewhere around 30-40 degrees my car idles to 1500, first off is this normal? Because when I put in reverse it jerks and goes to 1000 rpm. This might be me but now I have transmission fluid leaking. Now when its warm it idles and 825-850ish and when I put in reverse then put it in drive the idle drops to around 550-650. Does this sound normal?

You should let the car warm up before driving it.
If yours is a 1990 that is around 22 years old.
Be easy on it if you want it to last.
It is normal for it to idle at 1,500 until it warms up.

that looks like the vacuum control for the rear motor mount.
Was that feature used in 90?
What is at the end of that hard line?
Perhaps a picture from a little bit farther away would be more helpful.

I think crispin had it to begine with. Yes the 4th gen autos do have the vac mount. That does look like the solenoid for it, so there should be two hoses going to it.
OP-have yes checked the mounts = "jerks" going to R -Check both the front and rear.
Idle when cold is ~1500 rpm. Should slowly go down when the car warms up. Once warm what is the idle in N or P, then what is the idle in R or D? When was the last tune up?

Well i just did a rebuild, and i replaced all mounts, and the heads. So It could be that mount and i just forgot. In park and Neutral when its warm its somewhere around 1000-1100 and in drive and reverse its 800-700. Rebuild was now 1000miles ago or so.
