Smile im new here need help wioth 06 accord

Hi everyone, I just joined. I hope someone can help me. I bought a 2006 accord ex sedan v6 with 165k and it needs work. hoping to find a good mechanic in raleigh nc area or someone who can help.

Also wondering what are the best and most economical brand parts to get.

It needs:
1. timing belt service, water pump, serpentine belt, etc.
2. front and rear motor mounts.
3. P/S steering pump
4. all fluids flushed using ONLY Honda fluids. I was told not to flush transmission but just drain and fill it.
5. also need 4 wheels and tires. 17" x 6.5 the door label says but it also can take 16 x 6.5. I found a three 2002 Acura tl 5-spoke wheels 17 x 6.5 but need one more. Know where i can find one?

Hoping to learn and help others too. Thanks for any help. Im grateful!
Patrick

Maybe someone from Raleigh NC area can help, but if not suggest getting an Angies List subscription (as cheap as $5) and screen the shops yourself.

Some things to look for:
1) Clean shop
2) location near you
3) provide detailed estimates of parts and labor, not a lump sum.
4) BBB record of resolving complaints (not many will have no complaints).
5) Your own personal impressions are important

You are facing at least $1000 of work, maybe more.

PS pump making whining noise? A $3 oring on suction inlet fitting may fix the problem; air sucked into PS fluid at suction inlet.

Check car-part.com (your zip code) and craigslist for wheel you need.

good luck

Default Why parts needed ?

Hi Patrick,

I can understand your timing belt, water pump and serp. belt service,,,but why your motor mounts?
Are they already bad ,,or are you just being careful?
It will cost close to 800 bucks at a dealer just to replace the mounts,,,I was quoted 650 to do my wifes mounts on her 99 4 cylinder a few years ago.
And no,,,we did not replace them,,,they are still doing fine to this day.
What about power steer pump,,,leaking or making noise?
They usually give very good service,,,our 99 Accord has over 270,000 miles and doesn't leak a drop or make any racket you can hear.
Let us know and maybe we can help.

Tommy, thanks for the advice. The front and rear are definitely bad. Yes the P/S pump is bad too but Honda Corp said they may cover it as they know the p/s hose leaked and thats why they did a recall on it and know the previous hose leak damaged the p/s pump.

but can you tell me what are good replacement parts as i listed in my original post. THANKS!

Just about any parts store will have good quality replacement parts for you. You could leave that up to your mechanic when you find one that you like. I would guess that new mounts will probably cost about 100 bucks or so,,then you would have the cost of labor. I found some good mounts on Ebay that I was gonna buy,,they were about 75 bucks total. However,,when I got to checking ours closer I found we did not need,,so I never bought the mounts.
Hope it works out ok for you.
