Default Immobilizer 1994 Ballade 1500 manual (in some countries called Accord

My remote control that locks the doors and immobilizes the engine does not work. Control has only one button. When pressed, the red light on button lights up, goes off after a few seconds for a split second and lights up again, then goes off after another few seconds. No reaction from doors. If I use the little (overriding?) gadget that goes in the slot below the dash board, I can immobilize the engine, but remote control still does not work.

I went to the Honda agents but I really did not trust their uncertain guesses. (I live in Cape Town)

My guess is that the remote control must be re-programmed. How do I do this? Is it possible? If this is not the problem, do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Andre

Is this a Honda remote or an aftermarket system?

I suspect (not real sure) that even the factory remote systems can be completely different in various parts of the world because of radio-communications laws in each country. So where are you located; and we might have to hope for there to be some member nearby who knows the system.
