"Nice" job, Moderator. NOT.

Just today my "slow" Accord did 0-60 in about 4.9. I had some open road on an access road here in town. I'll put it up against any other V-6 out there.

I tried to be nice and just talk about filters, but I can see everyone here is sewage, even your "Moderator" so, out of here I go. I can't pm the mod to comment about this mess, so here it is in your face, brother.

I could refer you to the Honda foreman, but believe me he wouldn't take the guff I've taken here. I really thought this was a nice forum, but wow, how wrong I was. If a moderator condones insulting someone who didn't do anything but discuss a subject, then that says little for his integrity.

 

Did I say it was "slow" at any point? No. Did I say it isn't a sports car? Yes! If you're so happy with the performance of your car why would you come here in the first place asking for help on a few mods to increase pep? Plus, aren't you the dude who was saying there were 4 bangers beating you?

I called you a troll because all you did was come in here and start an argument that has been started hundreds upon hundreds of times in every other forum out there. When I attempted to steer the conversation towards other legitimate performance mods (clutch and flywheel) you ignored that and continued the intake discussion. This led me to the conclusion that you are either a) a troll or b) just want to start an argument here. If you want to stick around everyone is happy to help you find good mods, as I was in the beginning and still am. But don't ask for help and then act like you are the authority on the matter. Listen to the suggestions you hear.

I don't see why you're so hostile and defensive about this. From the very beginning I made a simple post disputing the statements you made. That was it. Then you had to give a very hostile response. You could have just accepted it as a different opinion but instead you had to say that I was inviting engine damage and that I had money to throw around to buy multiple cars along with other wild exaggerations and that I was basically a K&N mouth piece. There's no need for any of that and it was all wholly unreasonable. Just because you don't like a company doesn't mean the people who do are salesmen who fell for the sales pitch. It could just be that they like the company just as much as you dislike it?

That's it, I'm not going to go on about this any longer. It's a "Honda over the bridge" as far as I'm concerned. That doesn't really make sense but it sounds nice.

it's funny how he is gonna bash the mod when we all state true TRUE info. While the OP was going off hear say. So if he wants to leave that is his own choice. It was his own choice to be immature on the subject. WE all gave valid points and "myth busted" his theories. I guess he didn’t like the fact he got showed up?
Then you want to bash the forum b/c you didn't like what was said and the true valid points we gave. I'm sorry you didn't like what was said but tuff toddles that's called life. Laughing at this thread that started off me just talking about my preferences for taking good care of a car. What a kindergarten.

I knew K&N followers were emotional about their "filters", but this much drama belongs on Days Of Our Lives. I appreciate the input but not the flaming and hijacking. There IS a difference.

If you will all just put down your water pistols and paper spit wads for a sec, I will tell you that I do have a K&N filter sitting right in the room here that I ran on the '05 Accord Hybrid. And I am STUPIDLY about to let you all get me almost convinced to maybe try it on this plain V-6. Chances are maybe I wouldn't have the hesitation and crap I had on the Hybrid using it.

I must say, Mr. Mod, you were nicer in your pm to me than you are out here in the rasslin' ring, just like phony baloney "pro" wrestlers on TV. Insult and stomp each other before the crowd but enjoy a beer or coffee together at the local saloon after the matches. Man, when I came here I really thought there were some mature folks hanging around. Sorry for my misfire on that call.

Anyway, I won't post any more here. I just put down my thoughts as to how I take care of MY car. If you believe K&N's are good for your car, have at it. It's no big thing and not worth a playground brawl.

Ok 1st off you CLAIMED and “put down your thoughts” that K&N filter will destroy your engine. Which is a FALSE statement. I have the proof in pics to back my statement up. So this is what started the whole discussion. So all that have used this brand filter for years and years stepped up to the plate to correct your statement. This is when the "flaming and hijacking" came into play. When all n all you where just not listing to the facts. You were going off of hear say. Do you have any type of proof that K&N filters have destroyed and engine from personal experience??? We do! I have been building honda engines for the past 10 years since I was 14. Just about every engine I have used has had a K&N filter on either my turbo or my intake. Yes I can admit I have hydro locked a nicely built engine by ignorants and not useing a bypass valve on a CAI. But you live to learn and now I use a bypass valve. But was that the filters fault? No. My point being is if you can't back up your accusations then your credibility is shot. Just b/c a honda tech told you that the filter is bad does not mean he is right just b/c he holds a ASE certification. Also like I stated be4 honda allows you to use performance drop in filters and intakes along with a muffler and it does not void the warranty. So if K&N is so bad why dose honda let you use aftermarket intakes that can potently use a K&N filter?

An this crap about me being nicer in a PM then on the forum?..ok I'm taking to you the same way. Like I said I'm not agents you. You just must think as we are all out to get you when we are trying to correct your false info. I know from personal experience that K&N will not kill a engine unless installed wrong or broken. I live in the county off dirt roads and use K&N filters. I live on a 30 acre farm that has no paved drive ways or roads it's all dirt. Now if all my engine with K&N filter can survive all the dust and dirt flying around my farm Anyone in a city will never have a issue.

I'm tired of being in this nit picking bunch of "women".
It's your vehicles, treat 'em any way you want. But for sure the Honda shop foreman could take you all to pieces and spit you out in smaller pieces with data to back up what he advised me not to do. And another ASE shop owner of the biggest garage in this city told me he took a K&N off his Mustang, didn't want to risk engine damage. Now he said this to me, I didn't say it first. I'm still learning too, and I tend to believe technicians, professionals in their field, rather than Sunday "mechanics" on an internet forum chat chamber.

As I said earlier I've seen arguments and fights on other forums that ran for over 10 pages in length, going into the dirt just like this one is now over these filters. No one ever won or lost. It all boiled down to a matter of preference. If you want to tell 1000's of trained professionals from coast to coast they are all wrong, then give it your best shot. It's beyond understanding why Honda approves this type filter, but if you say so, then they do. I hope they don't say it's fine to run with nails in your tires too.

BTW, I got that K&N out of the bag it was in, held it up to a high intensity light the other night, and it was like looking through swiss cheese. Enjoy your filters but for me, no thank you.

True, I've been here for two months, finally post maybe my 2nd thread and get gang attacked by air filter groupies. I won't post anymore. Discussing a filter is good, but verbal fist fights by all of us hiding behind computers is silly. Be interesting to see who would stay and who would RUN if we were all in the same room in 3-D. I'd be sitting my 300 lbs frame comfortably in my chair and relaxing.


I'm done posting about all this. We've all expressed our opinions. Spitting like cats after the fact accomplishes nothing.
