Question Increasing gas mileage

What sorts of modifications can I make to my 2001 v6 accord to improve my gas mileage? Currently everything in the car is factory parts. I am not as concerned about turning the car into a speed demon (although I am not opposed to improved performance as a side affect), mostly I am concerned with saving gas as I am a kid with no money. Will a CAI really help with fuel economy and will the cost be worth the savings?

Also I should probably add that it has an automatic transmission and it is a sedan.

There are several things that you can do to maintain and even increase your fuel milage.
1. One thing you can do is a tune up on the car. What this would entail depends on the milage of your car.
2. Check your tire pressure. Making sure all tires are filled to tire specifications and are all at the same psi can yeild up to a 3.3% increase in fuel economy.
3. Engines love to breathe, the better they breathe, the better fuel economy you may get. For this, you can do a cold air intake, or a short ram intake so that your motor can get more air in.
4. To let some of that extra air out easier, you can do some exhaust work. This could entail adding a high flow catalytic converter, or a cat-back exhaust system. Opening up the exhaust can yield a good fuel milage increase.
5. Also keep your vehicle cleaned and waxed. This not only will provide a long life for your paint, but can actually help you gain mpg's. Not alot, but it will help.

Ok, thanks for the tips! If I add a cold air intake without upgrading the exhaust system as well, will that cause problems for me down the road?

you also can get a simple street tune to lean out the air/fuel mixture. All cars from the factory run somewhat rich. Do the exhaust intake and good tune up like said ^^^ and get the tune and you will see both performance and increase in MPG
