Default Instrument Lights

My 94 Accord instrument lights works okay except the needles are not lit. At night it is hard to read the instruments. Is this a result of bulbs being out or is it a fuse problem. Before I remove the instrument cluster, I better ask the question.
Thanks

do you have a stock or aftermarket cluster? If your license plate lights and tail lights work (fuse 32 15A) then chances are it's not a fuse issue (I'd check all of them anyway just to be safe...) play with the dimmer switch and see if you can get them to illuminate at all....

Has it ever worked since you've owned the car? When did it stop?

Thanks.
Instruments and all gauges are stock. All exterior lights are on and dimmer switch is cranked all the way. Under the hood and interior fuses are good. When headlight switchis on, instrument lights, radio, and A/Ccontrols are on except the instrument needles are not lit or glowing. They were on before.

I can't find the diagram to figure out if those have their own bulbs in a series or parrallel wiring system.... If they all just went out at the same time but all the rest of the lights on the car work and all your fuses are fine then you've either got a burned bulb or a few of them, a bad ground, or a wire issue.... You can wait and see what others say, perhaps there are some more simple suggestions but if everything you just told me is accurate I think you're getting ready to go dash diving....

Hey, thanks for the diagram. I think I may need this one if I have to remove the instrument cluster.

I have read in other forums that there are bulbs specific to the needles only, but it seems they are not sure. I just want to confirm this before I hit on the dash. But I don't understand why they went out the same time.

I can't find the wiring diagram for the guage cluster but my gut feeling is that if it's not a wiring/fuse issue then the bulbs have to be wired in series. That means when one burns out they all go out since the connection is lost (think really old christmas tree lights, one bulb is out the whole strand is out)

on my 96 (same generation) the needles are not lit. I dont think the needles themselves light up.

you may be right.... I had a 94 EX and I thought they lit up but now you've got me wondering.... I guess the reason I assumed they were lit is because I never had any problems reading the guage....

Thanks guys for clarification. I just called my son who owns a 95 Accord and he confirms that there are couple of lights on top that shines into the gauges. Somehow mine are out. So you all know where I'll be tomorrow with screwdriver.
Thanks a bunch.
