Default Key light blinking

What does it mean when the key light constantly blinks? My gfs 05 accord 4cyl doesn't want to turn on. The battery/cel light also doesnt show on the cluster when key is turned to position 2. Car does crank.

im guessing it has something to do with the anti theft system. is the key damaged in any way? there is a chip that interacts with the ignition. if it is bad or not present, the car will not start.

anyone with more knowledge please chime in

The key light is the Immobilizer. It means the ECM doesn't recognize the chip in the key. Try a spare key to see if there is a difference. You can refer to the owner's manual for more information.

That is right. The immobilizer is not recognizing the key. You may want to try using a spare key. Hopefully the car will recognize that key.

Here is a Honda TSB explaining the Immobilizer system for your car.

Thanks for responding, the key doesnt look damaged and I haven't dropped it or anything. We received only one key and a valet key. I already tried to start the car with the valet key and it had the same symptoms, it cranks but won't start and the key light blinks + cel/battery light not on.

The car probably has to be towed to the dealer and have the ECM reprogrammed to recognize the keys.

There is a immobilzer brake code that the dealer sometimes provides to start the car. It is a temporary fix. But, the dealer has to be satisfied you are the actual owner though. However, if something is wrong with the ECM, it will not work. You have to enter the code in the correct sequence with the e-brake, etc.

I checked the fuses that would prevent the car from starting. Is there a fuse for the immobilizer?

I'm going to call Honda and see what the cost is for this service.

The ECM is part of your Immobilizer system. You stated the ECM fuse was checked in your other thread.
