Key will not turn in the ignition at times
I just bought a 1997 Honda Accord SE w/ 118,000 miles and have a baffling issue. One of the two keys sometimes will not turn in the ignition. It's not like the key is bound up and turn the steering wheel slightly frees the key, sometimes I can turn the wheel end to end and the key still will not turn. Anyone else experience this? Causes?
Sticking keys can be helped by using either graphite spray or WD-40 in the key hole. I was about to change my trunk lock cylinder on an older Malibu when a key/lock shop pulled out the WD. Three shots and the lock 'puked' out a lot of dirt and grime. I just bought the rest of the can from him ($4) vs a new lock cylinder ($30). One piece of advice on an ignition key, put some rags on the floor mat to catch any stray drips from the steering column. Couple sprays and just work the key as normal. Should help.
