Default Map Light problem

2009 ex-l 4 cy auto with 50K. It appears that many folks are having problems with the map lights,as am I with the 2009. Sometime they work normally and without explanation, one or the other stops functioning. The bulbs are good and I have cleaned the contacts and they still are unreliable. I have read somewhere that replacing the base would fix the problem. I tried removing the base but the two connectors did not easily come off the base. Does anyone know the proper way to remove the connectors.
Thanks,
Jim

On the 7th generation Accords and some other Hondas and Acuras, the base unit could become faulty. I have not heard of this problem yet with most 8th generation Accords (i.e., 2008-2012).

Anyways, you could just use your fingers to push the tabs to release the connectors. This College Hills Honda video shows them pushing the tabs.
