Default RE: is the motor in my 92 an interference motor?

All the 2.2L Accord engines are interference. I had this problem recently on a similar 2.5L Acura engine and had a borescopeinspection (fiber optic scope much like adoctor usesto look inside a person through various entry points)used to check the pistons for damage.

Almost certainly, the belt came apart while driving and valves hit pistons. Usually the valves give and pistons are not damaged. That was the case for my Acura. W/ this information I was able to have a cylinder head repair performed w/ knowledge the engine was OK. I have heard of valves damaging a piston. If this is case, you might as well find a good used engine and replace the engine.

Borescope may detect damaged valves or the damage may be too small to be visible. In my 2.5TL I had 5 out of 20valves damaged.

You could re-install a new belt and see if engine will run. It will probably start and run very rough (valves stuck open). I have heard of interference engines surviving a T'belt break w/o damage.

good luck
