RE: MT swap?
its definitely possible, I know a few people that have done it in their 5gs. If you do it yourself it could be worth it, but I imagine a shop would charge alot of money for it, and, in my opinion, not be worth it.
you will need these parts:
5 speed transmission (F22, F23, H22, H23)
5 speed starter (90-02 Accord 92-02 Prelude)
5 speed shifter assembly w/ shifter cables (90-97 Accord, 92-96 Prelude)
5 speed drivers side axle (your year accord, but from 5-spd version)
5 speed intermediate shaft (your year accord, but from 5-spd version)
5 speed clutch pedal assembly (90-97 Accord, 92-96 Prelude)
5 speed brake pedal arm (90-93 Accord, 94-97 Accord)
Clutch master cylinder w/ reservoir and lines (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
Clutch line from Clutch master cylinder to clutch dampener (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
Clutch dampener assembly (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
Clutch line from Clutch dampener to 5 speed tranny (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
Clutch line from 5 speed tranny to slave cylinder (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
Slave cylinder (90-97 Accord 92-96 Prelude)
Clutch (90-02 Accord 92-01 Prelude)
Flywheel (90-02 Accord 92-01 Prelude)
5 speed mount (Your year, 5-spd version)
5 speed mount bracket (go to Honda - tell them to look for the bracket that is welded on the car - part is S.O.P and costs 15-25.00)
BOLTS: 8 Flywheel Bolts, 6 Pressure Plate Bolts, 3 Intermediate Shaft Bolts, 1 Long Tranny Bolt
Recommended: HELMS Service Manual (http://www.helminc.com)

RE: MT swap?
You would have to buy a MT tranny obviously.
An ECU would be needed for a 96/97 accord with a manual tranny. I remember reading a resistor can be removed from the ECU of an auto tranny, but I can't remember anything more details about that. I also think that you would need new half-shafts for the manual tranny. You would have to get a clutch, clutch pedal, master + slave cylinder.
I am guessing that it would be pretty pricy to do it, but you can call around to get some quotes from various shops. It can be done, it depends on how much money you want to spend to do it.

Therewas a link to a DIY in the DIY section. However I just checked it and it is not working any more. I'll put it this way: It is complicatred enough that you would probably be better off finding a manual trans 96 Accord and selling yours. I know that is not what you want to hear, but doing a manual trans swap is extremely "in depth"

RE: MT swap?
Unless you are an absolute masochist, find a replacement vehicle w/ MT. No way is this worth (time, effort, and sweat)the few miles per tank you may save or microseconds per 1/4 mile (maybe faster w/ auto?). If performance is your goal, there are less punitive methods to achieve.

IF and ONLY IF you know what your doing it will take you and a friend a weekend to do. Go find a mechanic buddy pay him in free beer and free food for the weekend Im sure they will help. If you dont have a clue what your doing DONT ATTEMPT TO DO THE SWAP. You will mess something up. If you gonna do this swap go to the pnp or j/y otherwise it will cost you an arm and leg. If you do this swap right yes it will be costly b/c you SHOULD buy yourself a new clutch/flywheel/master/slave cyl (or rebuild the cyl) Plus the cost of your tranny. IMPO at this point in time w/ all this money invested you might as well rebuild the tranny and motor(or swap out) since you have to take it all apart anyways. If you do it the right way you will end up dumping a grand into your tranny swap IF done right.
Thats why you poor poor cb7 is still rockin the p.o.s a/t
