Default MTF slightly underfilled cause for concern?

Hi,

So I decided to drain and refillthe Manual Transmission Fluid in may car. Exactly 2 quarts came out, but since I had a hard time getting the new fluid into the refill hole, due to its hard to access place, I was only able to pour in1.8 quarts, the rest of spilled before getting in there!!!

Any way, I only had bought two bottlesof the new fluid and decided to drive the car anyway. It drives fine, and shifting is quite a bit smoother than before.Should I be concerned about MTF being ~ .2 quarts below full? Was planning to do another change in ~ 5K (with the right plastic tube and funnel!)

By the way I used Honda MTF it is pretty thin and has a strong smell, wondering what addetive gives it thisdistinct smell.

I'd get another quart & fill it. Not too much worry, but I wouldn't go 5000 miles. Then you'll have the rest of that bottle to go along with 2 more you buy after a couple months when you do it again.

How clean was the stuff you drained out? Or why do you want to change it again in 5000?

The old fluid was actually relatively clean, i did see a bit of metal shavings though. That's why I figured I should drain before too long and take another look.

Well, how about drain/fill after a couple days? That way you aren't going all of 5000 with it a little low. Or with a little bit of residual metal shavings...

Thanks, actually I ended up just adding to it (via a syringe!,) until it started to drip out.

Now I got myself a plastic tube that I would feed from top of the engine and use to refill , next time when Idrain the tranny.
