Default Muffler; dual or not

Hello it's me again, now have to replace the muffler and B pipe, Meineke is suggestingI replace my 96 EXL 4 cylnder with a one exhaust instead of the dual, according to them the other pipe out the back is for looks.
I was wondering if this would be safe, or do I need to get the dual exhaust muffler that is standard on my EXL?

The price from the dealer was $650.00 If I go with the one exhaust its $220.00 including the B pipe plus tax.

Please advise me asap as I am leaving on Friday for the weekend in Tampa.

Michael

Go with the single, the dual is just for looks with a 4 cylinder.

Looks better with the two pipes but as Tex says, go with the single..

Dual will increase backpressure a little, just go single.

I believe it would decrease backpressure instead of increase it.

As of last Friday got a new B pipe and muffler done at Mieneke in Tampa on North Dale Mabry including the crome extension for $265.00 including ta., Its not dual, but the guy took his time to center it in the middle, look great, sounds even better quite again at last.

Nope, would add another passage, that would create more turbulence at the split, rather than a smooth straight exit. Oh and yeah, weight too. The other muffler is counterproductive unless your just going show.
