My Car Is Squealing
Car squeals/high-pitched whine upon startup in the morning, goes on while I drive -straight/turns- for about a minute then stops (when the engine is warm?).
If I idle the car on startup and turn on the AC- squealing begins and stops as soon as I turn off the AC. When I start up the car at night, there is no squealing. Is this a problem with my A/C belt? If so, how should I fix- tighten/replace? I have had this problem on and off since this past winter, it has not gotten to the point where it will happen every day. Not sure about Engine Size... How do I check? (Misplaced my owners' manual.) |
you have a 1.7L 4 cylinder.
you will need to replace your belt. that would most likely be your problem |
Google ZSTZdTAB_As
This is a video from ericthecarguy on belt inspection. It could be a bad belt and/or tensioner. |

i would change the ac belt and power steering belt. there should be a drive belt that is connected to your crank pulley. im not fimiliar with the D17 engines
im guessing the ac belt is the one that runs with the crank and alternator |

your manual shpould have step by step instructions. not any vids on youtube as i can see.
this is a accord forum, so i dont expect much help here. on my ladies cavalier she has a single drive belt that turns everything annd is as simple as loosening the tensioner and slipping the new one on and releasing the tensioner |
Most dealership will sell you anything to get the money, some people call them stealership, and many cases they don't even do that good of a job.

Same problem here on my wifes 93 accord. Will change the belts and see if that fixes it.
