My steering is really stiff

Default My steering is really stiff

Hi, my power steering is really stiff. i dont know why, i have a leak in my power steering so i always fill up the fluid . do i have to change my power steering pump?

You should try to locate the source of the leak. It could be the pump, hoses, the connections, or the power steering rack.

Just follow the hoses to find a sign of leakage. There is a rubber boot at both ends of the steering rack. See if those are filled with PS fluid.

If it were a hose leaking, you would see a loss of fluid FAST. Pop the hood and have an assistant turn the wheels back and forth (with the engine running of course) while you attempt to see the leak. if it is a hose, it will spray fluid everywhere. Try not to get any fluid in your eyes.
Locate the leak source and we may be able to help you more.
