Default Need Help With 09 Accord

Iv'e got an 09 accord. 40,000 miles and never had any issues with it. last week my engine light went on and over 3 RPM the engine would sort of skip or jump. the local mechanic said it was a variable timing spool valve- rocker arm problem and that i need a new one. it would cost 450.00 just for the part. does this make sense? why would this break? thanks for all the help

This is specific to the V6 due to the spool valve. Give us the code.

This should have been covered under the 5-year/60,000 miles powertrain warranty, as the dealer should be able to get reimbursement from American Honda.

Here is a link with some Honda technical info.

I am not sure of a spool valve problem on the 2009 L4. He may mean the VTC actuator or something else.

The trouble code should help. This should probably be covered under the powertrain warranty if it is engine related.

For the 4 cylinder, I have not heard of this being a common problem. It should be a covered powertrain warranty item.

You stated "the local mechanic" has a Honda garage looked at it and told you this?

just called the mechanic. he thinks the code is 2146. He had to get the part from Honda, and they told him it wasn't covered.

Negative. the nearest Honda to me was at least 30 minute drive on the interstate. i couldn't do that without going over 3 RPM.
