Need help with a 6th gen no start issue
Being 100% upfront and honest - I do not own an Honda Accord - BUT I am helping a young mother by trying to get hers up and running for her.
It is a 2000 EX V-Tec. She drove it to my house one afternoon and everything was working fine. She goes to get back in the car and it will not start. It just cranks and cranks but will not start.
I sprayed some starting fluid in to the intake and was able to get the car to fire up - all-be-it a rough idle that only lasted a few seconds. However, it was enough to tell me that I had ignition and I do not have a clogged air filter. Which leads me to a fuel problem.
I can not hear the fuel pump prime up. I checked to see if I had power at the pump, and I show 10 volts. I ruled out the relay (all though you may tell me differently). I changed out the fuel pump and the filter sock. Still not firing.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

The 5-pin connector at the fuel pump is for the fuel gauge as well as the pump. The black/yellow wire is power for the pump, and apparently the pump grounds itself.
Did you check voltage on the correct wire? Did you check the pump/tank has good ground?

I will check the other locations tonight/tomorrow and see what I come up with.
The ground should be fine. I will double check that as well.
Thank you for answering my question and I hope that other ideas keep coming - just in case.....
Also keep in mind that these cars use a chipped key to activate the immobilizer circuit. This circuit is probably keeping the fuel pump turned off.
The immobilizer is actually located in the ECU, and are a Honda dealer type of deal. The sensor for it however is located in the steering column. If she has 2 keys to the car, ask her to try the other key. I only mention this, as my wife's car came with a generic 2nd key, and while it would unlock some things, it would only crank the engine. If you used the other key, it would fire right up.
Just a heads up.
P.S. We took the car to the dealer and had a 2nd "chipped" key made. it was 70 bucks for it.
